DIY: Velvet Choker Necklace.

Today, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone & I decided to put together a DIY for you guys. I really love the choker trend, but before I decided if I actually wanted to buy one, I tried to make my own: success, if I do say so myself. You only need a few things and little time to create this, so let's go!

What do you need?

  • Black velvet. You can use a velvet ribbon for this, but I actually cut mine out of a simple piece of velvet. The length of this necklace equals the circumference of my neck and it's 3 cm wide. You also need 2 separate small pieces, 0,5 cm wide, to use as a fastener at the back.
  • A charm. This can literally be everything you have laying around. I had an old bracelet of which I took this charm.
  • Some black thread and a needle.

How?

It's the easiest if you first cut all your pieces of fabric so they're ready. The first thing you need to do is to connect the two smaller, separate pieces, to your necklace. Measure about 3 cm and lay that on your necklace. Fasten it with a few stitches to make sure it's secured, these stitches don't have to be super-neat, since you're using black thread on black fabric.

Then it's time to attach the charm. All you need to do is find the middle of your necklace and give it one stitch. Make sure the stitch is on the pretty side of the necklace en the thread comes out on the other side. Attach your charm and make sure it's well-secured by adding a few knots.

And your velvet choker is done! Are you trying this out? Let me know in the comments!
